Maintenance of lightning protection system

Revision, diagnosis, and maintenance is a necessity in any lightning protection system. In fact, some components may lose their effectiveness over time due to corrosion, adverse weather conditions, mechanical shock and lightning strikes. The mechanical and electrical characteristics of a lightning protection system must be continuously maintained to meet the standards and the efficiency of the entire system.

The revision and diagnostics consist of the following:

1. Revision of the existing systems.
2. Evaluation and verification of the effectiveness of existing lightning protection systems.
3. Measurement of the earth resistivity.
4. Measurement of the equipotential bonding (resistance) to establish the quality of the connections between the various elements of the grounding.
